The 2026 Insider's Guide

Getting to
Sedona

Budget · Mid-Range · Luxury Travel Options

Sedona has no major commercial airport, but that's what makes it more magical and exclusive. You can drive through Oak Creek Canyon, take a shuttle, book a chauffeured SUV, or helicopter in.

✈

Nearest airports: Most travelers fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) the main hub, ~2 hours south with all major airlines. Flagstaff Pulliam Airport (FLG) is only 40 minutes away but serves limited routes. Sedona Airport (SDX) sits atop Airport Mesa but handles private and charter planes only, no commercial service.

Local Tip

Getting around once you arrive.

It's easiest if you have a car. Sedona has limited public transportation, but there are a few options to help you get around. Even if you arrive via shuttle or rideshare, renting a car locally upon arrival gives you the freedom to explore on your own schedule. Jeep rentals are also available in Uptown if you want to tackle the more rugged back roads, a popular and memorable way to see the backcountry.

If you choose to come to Sedona without a car and on a budget, Sedona Shuttle Connect serves the West Sedona area in limited capacity. Don't plan on getting around on a tight schedule with Uber as there aren't many local drivers.

Sedona feels like it moves on a different time, you might wonder where all the time went. Being present and setting alarms if you have a schedule helps. Soaking in all the sunshine, beauty and energies makes for a beautiful day.
